Last month I was invited to the University of Memphis to speak to journalism students about how to use social media professionally and strategically, while still having fun. My presentation covered several social media ‘best practices’, social media myths vs facts, how social media is used by HR and hiring managers in the job search process, the “dangers” involved with careless (and potentially inappropriate) social media use, and tips to control your privacy settings on the main social media platforms.
